SHELBY COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER NOW UNDER OPERATION OF SHELBY COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY
As of January 1, 2018, the Shelby County Animal Shelter is now under the operation of the Shelby County Humane Society. The Humane Society will operate the animal shelter in accordance with Kentucky and County laws, regulations and ordinances. They will also provide care for all stray and quarantined animals in the facility.
The public should be aware that animal licensing, information on lost and found pets, the County Adoption Program, low-cost spay/neuter programs for cats and dogs, volunteer programs and a foster care program will all continue to be available at the shelter. The location of the shelter and phone number will remain the same while the name of the facility may change.
Animal Control will remain a part of and under the supervision of the County. The Humane Society will be working with Animal Control when appropriate to protect the citizens and the animals in the community. Animal Control can now be reached at 502-655-7962, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and in emergency situations at the same number.
